About Dr Paul Sigel
I am a clinical psychologist with 20 years’ experience of working with a diverse range of people and presenting problems, both in the NHS and in Private Practice.
Specialist Areas of Expertise
I have worked extensively across three specialist areas within the NHS:
o Psychological Therapy for mood, anxiety, interpersonal and relationship problems
o Psychological services in medical settings to help people manage medical conditions, such as:
Sexual health and sexual problems
Gastroenterology including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Cardiac Conditions
Neurology conditions
Diabetes
Respiratory conditions
Fatigue & Pain
o Psychiatric settings for helping people with more severe & enduring mental health problems generally and bipolar disorder in particular.
Supervision & Service Development
My work in the NHS has included supervision of clinical and counselling psychologists as well as CBT therapists. My service development experience has included supervision of supervisors, audit and other mechanisms for maintaining professional standards and quality assurance.
Teaching & Research
Over the course of my career, I have been involved in research as well as post-graduate teaching and supervision. Currently, I teach on Clinical Psychology Doctoral Course at Kings College London (Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience) and Canterbury Christ Church University College (Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology).
